How to make 2D art look better when camera is further away?

Hello I am not an artist, I have no idea what I am doing with them most of the time. I tried looking online and I was confused further.

Basically I bought an asset to help me with characters and I was wondering how I can make 2D not look bad when the camera is far away?

For example the characters look like this when zoom out

and they look better like this when zoom in

How do you handle these cases?

You probably want to turn on MipMaps and Filter Mode = Bilinear.


Compression can also be a factor. High Quality perhaps None, though None uses a lot of memory. Things in the background can be more compressed or reduced resolution, generally. Whatever you can get away with.
