How to make a child ui element disappear (Unity 4.6) ?

I want to make a panel stop rendering with some scripting (popping a configuration menu and then closing that menu, things like that).

I must be missing something because I can’t figure it out but obviously this is something that should be easy to do. The canvas renderer attached to ui elements do not seem to have any properties that would allow me to do that.

Does anyone know how to make any ui element disappear in script ? I’m writing in C#.

Nevermind, like any game object, I managed to disable them by using GameObject.SetActive(false);
