How to make a game in 48 hours

Hey here’s a little timelapse video of me for my Ludum Dare 20 entry… Shows the whole 2 day development cycle in about 6 minutes

I love your sitting positions in this. Slouched over - sits strait- leans back in chair

Anyways, i really enjoyed this game. My question is, how did you get the “Ninja rope” physics working?

Holy cow!

I was trying to bring the cart home, but it got eaten by the ground :frowning:

Awesome!

What can you say… besides that is just AWESOME.

Very cool

Extremly awesome:smile:

How can you call this guy? Productive?

4:04 Booty! lol

Hero!

What tools did you use (too fast to see in video)?

Thanks guys! Very kind words
The tools used are
Unity pro 3.3
Visual studio
Modo
Photoshop
Cubase 4
Sound forge

Thanks  the ninja rope works by firing a ray from the gun position, if it hits something close enough it creates a small rigid body at the hit location and creates a spring joint between it and you. Then the arrow keys manipulate the newly created rigid body. It took a lot of trial and error to get it to behave and even now it feels slightly funny

impressive , now your nickname make more sense

how and why do you use Visual studio,Modo and Cubase 4 here?

Hey, cool! I made a game for the Ludum Dare 20, too - it’s called Tri. I had to put it in the Jam unfortunately (not in the Compo), because I had to download the FPS Character Controller from the Unify Wiki; there is a severe flaw with the script built-in in Unity. :frowning:

Nevertheless, great work as usual, quickfingers!

I thought that was obvious? I use modo to do the modelling, Visual studio for scripting and cubase 4 to compose the theme tune

4:05! :o

Good work and an inspiration to us all.
I couldnt master using the rope in the completed game so didnt get past the first bit (kept drowning).

Would you be able to upload a non timelapse version to learn from.

booty!

I think you should be disqualified from ludum dare for the crime of cheating. It is clearly obvious the cat was helping you sometimes and did the bulk of the work.

Joking aside, amazing performance and great game
