How to open a 3ds max file from Unity in a specific version?

I have Max 2009 and Max 2011 installed. The project I’m working on still uses 2009. I can save a .max file from 2009 and import it into Unity just fine. But when I double click on the file in the Unity Project View, Unity insists on opening the file in Max 2011. I’ve tried changing the .max file associations with the usual Windows 7 methods, but no luck. Is there any way of forcing Unity to open a file in a specific version of Max when more than one version of Max is installed?

I’ve recently been through this too with 3DSMax2012, unity does seem to use whatever application the file is associated with in windows though (I’m on win7 too). I tried the usual file association methods in windows with no luck and had to manually edit the registry to get it opening files with the desired version of max :frowning:
