hi!
I’ve been analyzing and learning Unity lighting but everything I create becomes dull and flat.
Can you give me a hand with a few tips? For example, how would be a setup to achieve this type of lighting? (Screen from Halo attached)
Not only the use of a Directional light with shadows, there’s much more: the color of the textured materials, the unlitted (shaded) areas, the speculars, etc.
Thanks!
Sounds to me you’re really not making much use of Physically Based Shading, the standard material and so on. You probably don’t have a very good skybox for PBS to reflect from. Yes it’s needed.
RTS shading is absolutely no different whatsoever to FPS or any other game. Shading is shading, lighting is lighting.
You will need to tell us your experience and what you have done so far for people to help as the subject matter of “my 3d stuff looks bad” is a very broad one.
