I make a game that can be playable in either VR or non VR mode.
For PC.
The issue is that it’s enough to connect the VR device to the PC, even when you play in non VR mode, for it to mess up the game.
The two big issues, the VR headset “Steals” the audio from the headphones.
The other issue is that it change my camera’s FOV, even when I am not in VR or not try to run in VR mode.
How to have a game that can support both VR and non VR, and even better, making it possible to change between the modes In Game?
for the audio stealing,
i think its windows or the vr desktop app issue…
not sure if its possible to block that from happening within unity application?
(i have that also with Oculus, seems to steal microphone too…)
Which vr system you are using? unity xr, steam vr or others?
Add a 2nd “normal” camera and toggle between your XR Rig and this other camera depending on the mode (and obviously disable the other camera). I usually do it with a command-line switch when running your game (I think many games on Steam also do this, such as No Man’s Sky - they have 2 versions you can run, Regular Mode and VR Mode).
