i didnt see any information about how to publish with the epic game store, i see there is the Epic online services sdk but says its not integrated yet for Unity or UE4
“We designed Epic Online Services (EOS) SDK from the ground up to be as portable as possible across both hardware and software platforms. It is currently available for desktop platforms, with additional platforms planned for the near future. Integrations for both Unreal Engine 4 and Unity will become available at a later”
The Epic game store is not yet welcoming indie developers in general. Fill out that form, but don’t get discouraged if Epic treats you the way they treat all unknown indie devs.
If you developed a game that has already generated millions in revenues, then Epic would love to hear from you.
They need to establish a sizeable and desirable curated place first, in order to be competitive, before opening the flood. That’s how they distinguish themselves in the short terms from the chaos of internet and steam.
In some cases epic games scouts out studios with prospective projects even if it si their first one.
I can think of two examples right now: Ooblets and Satisfactory.
Aside from that this can thought of as having a curation. Which may be a good thing. Steam decided to allow everything on their store, but it feels like the quality of their suggestion algorithms went down in past year or so. There’s a lot of junk now, and there are asset flipper games.
Satisfactory is developed by Coffee Stain Studios, which also released Goat Simulator. The success of Goat Simulator may have played a part in getting Satisfactory onto the Epic store.
Ooblets was originally announced by Double Fine, so that may have initially helped get it onto the Epic store.
