How to resolve direction stacking in a radial menu / radars ?

[Deleted] : Asked a mathematical question, received opinion based answer, it was counterproductive, so I guess it’s not the place. I’ll go to stackexchange/overflow/gamedev where there are actual on subject, knowledge based non-biased answers

Any mod please delete this thread

It’s possible that I just didn’t understand the question. Could you please describe in more detail what you’re trying to achieve (perhaps there are similar menus in other games)? And the first picture is completely unclear. What is the result depicted on it?

But is it possible for the arrows to be evenly distributed around the circle, but still point in the same directions as before the uniform distribution? Look, even in the picture, you can see how the leftmost arrow points in different directions.

Hmm that’s a little bit unusual to be honest, having fake directions (and in your picture they’re pointing to radically different directions…) just so the indicators don’t overlap is not a great idea at all. There’s nothing wrong if the indicators overlap, all games do this, and it has a strategical benefit as the player can guess that the enemies are very likely very close to each other or even grouped together. I mean just imagine if the player follows the left most indicator just to find themselves off by 50 meters… it won’t be a pleasant experience at all.

I don’t see any lecturing or biased words in my reply. It was just an honest opinion. So no, I will not reword anything.
And nobody asked to give us details or reveal features about your game, myself included. I really don’t care about your game.
OP asked for help about something, we tried to help and all replies here were friendly and are just opinions after all. They’re free to follow them or not.
