How to retrieve my system disk space after installing and deleting tutorials?

Hello guys. So I just started to learn Unity with loads of motivation and lost it all in an instant because of this disgusting issue I got right off the bat.

I installed Unity and other tools coming with it on my D (not system) drive and started from completing tutorials.

I was going through tutorials when I got to 2D Game Kit tutorial. As usual I clicked download button and didn’t get any windows to specify path, being absolutely sure that it will be installed somewhere in the same place I installed Unity.

Good thing that I monitor my system disk space all the time, because it started to disappear swiftly. I would be completely done by now if I didn’t noticed it.

I wouldn’t ever be so mad if it was my own project and my own lack of knowledge. But come on, it’s tutorials which supposed to be friendly to newbies.

I searched the net and got following solution: manually delete tutorial folders from directory C:\Users[username]\AppData\Roaming\Unity\Asset Store-5.x\.

But the thing is that I lost 2.5GB of my disk space when deleted folders were just 400MB.

What else can I do guys? Please help me retrieve my motivation.

The problem resolved itself. As meat5000 mentioned, it was a problem with temp directory.

CCleaner was the first thing I did back then, but it didn’t find and delete anything. Today I used CCleaner again and it did find those temp files and cleaned it. My space and motivation is back
