How to rotate Mecanim Animation

Hi

I have obtained an animated model from Unity Store.
My problem is, that the animation is turned sideways, so when I make this kangaroo move from point to point, it jumps perpendicular to the path ;/

I tried to rotate the animation using “Root Transformation Rotation” in the Mecanim animation import, but that does not seem to affect the animation at all. Do you have any idea?

I have the same problem also for legacy animations, but this one is more pressing.

I will answer my own question:

Important bit is, when importing animation is to set the root bone.
Then the root transformation rotation will work.

Yet I had no visual aid, that something is happening, until i pressed the “Apply” button and my animation rotated.
