How to spam sprites, textures etc onto the canvas?

I’m trying to build a 2d platformer and I’m using a free assets pack and all the items are 100px * 100px so to build a wall 1000px tall it’s a pain. Can’t I just click on the item I want to place and then drag with my mouse to “paint” the item on the canvas?

Having to snap together every block, manually adjusting the elevation etc it’s a nightmare. Takes me 1 hour just to create a basic layout.

In photoshop for example they have brushes where you can apply the texture and just brush and it spam paints the texture.

Or can’t you take the 100px * 100px sprite and use Scale to make it 10 times bigger?

No because often times the texture has a pattern on it which gets stretched out and doesn’t look nice.

So then you can use a material (such as Mobile/Diffuse) and tile a texture.

Create or buy a tile system, or wait for Unity’s.

That’s probably the best option.

I just discovered that by using a Standard material, if you set the “emission” texture to the one you want to tile, it will let you tile the material.

I’ve added materials from the Asset Store to Sprite Renderers many times, and tiling did work on them, so I’m sorry for any confusion. It is best to make your own tiling system or get one, however you can tile some materials assigned to the Sprite Renderer.

Probably in the time spent reading this post, you could have manually tiled the textures in MS Paint

Thanks, I’ll try googling how to do a tile system.
