Hello everyone. New Unity user here so please forgive my utter ignorance…
Im looking to make a UI that will display an inventory list on a per vehicle basis. for example; opening the inventory UI, selecting a vehicle from a list, then displaying that vehicle’s inventory in list form (itemname, itemquantity), and then i want to have an itemrequest column that is visually persistant. for example having a clickable button to increase the request quantity, until that request is fulfilled.
I’m not sure really how to get this started. can someone at least point me in the right direction? should i make item lists? stacked dictionaries? load the list from an XML?
Thanks in advance for helping a nooblet. cheers.
Hi,
I’m not really that far from you in knowledge but the answer mainly lies in what you are trying to accomplish for this. First you should ask yourself if your list is bound to change over time or if it will always remain the same. Be honest about it as the scope you imagine could not be realistic necessarily and sometimes you can overcomplicate yourself trying something which actually could be done with less effort, like opening files when you will not be adding more vehicles to the game.
Once you know how you will load your data you could either make it by hand or use a method to generate it loading it from either a static list in your script or try a hand at loading it from somewhere else.
Also have in mind where you are saving the player’s inventory because that information you’ll have to get from there, there’s no way around that.
