How to texturize a 3ds max model

Hello.I am having an issue: i’m following a tutorial but i don’t have the exercise file,so i am making a spaceship ,simple one , in autodesk 3ds max. The problem is the following: i’ve done the 3d model,but how can i just make a texture to it?I don’t want the texture to be very sofisticated, i just want one part to be red,one green and one black,simply enough :smiley: . Thanks

As for 3D Studio Max I don’t know specifically, how to texture(I can only do that in MAYA), but the procedure shouldn’t be much different.

You will have to create a texture, also called a UV Map. You will have to do a Google search on how to do that. You could write something alike: “How to UV Map in 3D Studio Max”, or whatever.

Then you will have to use a photo editor(Photoshop, paint, paint.net) If you do not have Photoshop I’ll recommend you “Paint.net”. It is a free photo editor with amazing capabilities. And in your Photo editor of choice you’ll have to “paint” the UV Map with the desired colors you want your 3D model to have.
