How to turn 9th axis controller into a float

Tried sensivity, gravity, etc but whenever I click the 9th axis on my controller it jumps straight up to one. Is it posible to make it more gradually. like slightly pressed: .5f and heavily pressed == 1?

Edit: Snap was on!

Open the input axis in the project settings input settings. Do you see a “snap” option? If so, turn it off.

Also, if you calling it with Input.GetAxisRaw, you want GetAxis instead.
