How to update one scene while in another?

So I’d really like to know this and I don’t really know what keywords to search for on forum. If there is another thread that answers this clearly, please post the link, thanks

Question is how would I keep updating things in one scene (AI tasks etc…) while you are currently in another. For example, lets say things are happening in one scene outside, you go inside, another scene is loaded for the inside, and you want everything that was happening outside to continue happening as was.

This is more of a conceptual question, I feel like it has definitely been asked before, I just can’t find it. Responses greatly appreciated  Thanks

You can’t have more than one scene loaded at a time.

You could fake it.
When leaving a scene save some game data along with a timestamp. Then when you re-enter the scene load the game data, check how much time has passed and update the AI positions.

If you need full scene interaction between two scenes then create two different areas within one scene with two cameras and switch the camera to the other area instead of loading a new scene.

You could use loadleveladditive to merge two scenes together, offsetting the playing area so they don’t overlap.

A good search term is “unity3d multiple concurrent scene”

Thanks a ton for your response. “unity3d multiple concurrent scene” was indeed an awesome term to search, pretty much the exact thing I was asking. Thanks
