Hi how do you have update Unity without uninstalling it? Why am I asking this stupid question? Well bc I only have 3GB available on my SSD, and updating required 11 GB…
When installing a newer version of Unity, the older version gets removed by the installer automatically.
However, 3GB won’t be enough. Free up some disk space or buy a SSD with more space.
Depends on the OS. On Windows I think you still get a new directory for each installation, so side-by-side is quite straight-forward - besides, you can choose an install location.
On macOS you just rename your old folder. Add the version number or something. You can have every version of Unity as long as you have room.
Wait, what? This is mutually exclusive with what you were asking in the first sentence. If you have that little space you need to uninstall Unity or something else to make room, or install it on a different drive. Note: Unity is probably not the most important thing to have on the SSD - that would be your projects and caches.
I suggest making more room. If you’re constantly at too little space to even install just the editor you’ve probably allocated your stuff wrong. Move some games if that’s what’s eating space.
