How to upgrade older projects into new hub

The description upon entering these forums says this is not a support forum so I hope this is the proper place to post this question and get a response!

I just downloaded today the new Unity Hub and Editor Unity 2019.3.0ab and uninstalled all my older versions of Unity to preserve disk space. For older projects that I created with 2018 and earlier, what do I have to do to upgrade them to the 2019 version. In the past, all you had to do was open up the editor, and the system would prompt you to upgrade or revert to the past. In this version, it asks you to load up the past version with no chance to load up the new 2019 version.

Just to be certain you are aware that you’ve downloaded one of the alpha releases, right?

There is a little arrow next to the version assigned to the project that you can click to assign a different version.

I think Unity needs to change the HUB UI urgently as people are picking the Top alpha version of the engine and therefore wrecking their projects.

Can I suggest:

  • Some kind of locking/unlocking system with a warning before allowing users to install Alphas or Betas!

  • An automatic backup/archiving process for projects that move from an older version to an Alpha or Beta that needs to be disabled with a clear warning.

I’m still wondering why they did away with separating official releases and experimental releases in different tabs from pre-Unity Hub 2.0.
