Hi guys so I was thinking about making an inventory system that has ammo.
But also make a weapon with an ammo slot in it.
So what I was thinking every time you want ammo in your weapon you just simply reload.
The ammo that is in the tactical vest will be the move to the weapons slot.
With the value of it’s amount.
Now lets say the player shoot the mag all the way to 15 bullets.
The player reloads the weapon, the mag goes back to the vest with the 15 bullets value.
And load in a new fresh mag with 30 bullets.
Will this way be in anyway practice or I’m just making a horrible system.

Seems easy enough and this is how games like Arma do it.
Just needs mags that can carry individual bullets and to make it so everytime you hit reload it looks for the mag in your vest that contains the most bullets.
Escape from Tarkov, a Unity game that looks rather interesting, seems to be very much like Arma except it actually has good graphics and good shooting mechanics. In that game you have a fast and a slow reload. The fast reload throws your existing magazine on the ground and replaces it with a fresh one from your vest, while the slow reload puts your existing magazine back into your vest before putting a new one into the weapon. Seems like a neat way to approach something like this.
