I am just 13. Using Unity over a year now. I want to ask if someone is willing take me in his commercial game. Not a AAA job where we deal with millions of dollars, but a free type of job. Collabrotation would be a better word.
.
Have a look at the collaboration section. There seem to be a lot of people looking for other:
I know about it :). I meant that people wont allow me to help them if the got to know I am just 13. ![]()
IANAL, repeat, not a lawyer: Additionally, in the US at least, you would not be able to work on a commercial game as you cannot legally sign a contract. Beyond the necessity of your parent(s)/guardian(s) needing to enter into the contract instead of you, you may violate some labor laws being under both 18 and 16.
Will that even apply if I want to work myself? BTW I live in India. These legal issues are out of the brains of teens ![]()
Any contract will have to be co-signed by an adult, which is a large legal deployment on them. Basically, if you donāt fulfilled the contract, they sue the co-signer. So be careful and make sure they know what theyāre doing before you get them to blindly sign it.
You will also have to satisfy your countries legal work age. Here in the USA if youāre under 16 youāre only option is to be 15 and gain a work permit.
I am not aware of Indiaās workforce laws.
HEY
Iām 14, I started developement at 11, I donāt think anyone will let you work with them but instead, do like I did, online jobs on Fiverr.
So basically my parents can take the contract as their own and I can do the rest of the work. Do it also applies if I want to publish something online like on Google Play store. I recently created a account on it and hearing it I am a bit scared as in India $25 are not less ![]()
Thanks Iāll check that out ![]()
Yeah, the currency rates here is bad too, try the Amazon market, I heard itās good and Free. Iām trying to make money through Fiverr to āpromote my selfā xD to the Google Play Store
I went a hard core and spent my collected money to create a account to publish my game (which is not even made). Another problem in India is banks. I needed to create 2 accounts because Google Wallet did not accepted my PNB Debit card.
well, Iām also suffering from credit cards and bank accounts. Good luck with your project, contact me if you need any help
Thanks, and for the card and bank issues, I highly recommend you to create an Axis Bank account, and specially request
them a international debit card. It was very smooth for me using it. Good Luck ![]()
This is the internet. There is no strict requirement to actually declare your age. Deal with clients through email and nobody needs to know.
When I was 19, I was managing 6 guys full time doing websites at a major advertising agency and making way, way more money than a 19 year old has any business making. Nobody knew my actual age (subcontracting). The biggest problem was having to risk getting carded going to company events at bars (I was terrified of this)
As @Kiwasi says, age is just a number. If you can put up results, most people wonāt care.
Be super careful with some of the advice given here.
Note, I am also not a lawyer, but an agreement made even via internet discussions can be legally binding, though being under-age makes this an illegal process in many countries.
If a company you work for gets caught using your services and that is unlawful where they work, they face prosecution, and in turn, you may do too.
Not saying donāt do it, but hiding your age is not a great idea.
My advice is be open about everything, you wonāt get in trouble provided you are truthful, but if you hide important information, problems can arise.
thatās why I told him to forget company, work with normal people.
Yeah, thatās fine. And to be fair if itās like $5 no-one will care anyway, I just thought it necessary to point out that age is definitely important, even when online.
Age may be just a number but legal risks are there. How would you feel if you made games & stuff, put them on google or other app stores then found those stores withheld money because they had some fine print in their agreement that you had to be over 18 to sell products there? Be smart, getting experience is a great thing so look for collaboration as was suggested but it would be safer for you & the prospective employers if it was non commercial (more like work experience rather than an actual job)
This actually happened to me :(. I made a publisher account for $25 (A big Number here) and afterwords I realized that I need to be 18 to make a merchant account. :(. I tried to change my age above 18 but I could not manage to do it. After being depressed for 3 hours, while going to sleep I got and idea. I entered my age as 17 years 361 days and next day I was 18 yeah!!!
