Hi guys I am using the current unity free edition. The problem I am having is when I create my terrain I can set my resolutions but I can not find where to set my depth!
Every single tutorial I have seen or read about shows on the top of the screen a tab called terrain.
Guess what I do not have that if my life depend on that anywhere and I have a friend looking we both can not find it.
I know this has to be a simple fix I am just over looking it. I already made some sample terrain which is amazing! But I need gullys and trenches and beaches.
Could someone help me and be nice and not rude thanks
The terrain settings are in the settings tab now.

Thank you eric
But as I was saying there is no depth in there. Every single tutorial and video on unity on lynda.com about unity shows that there is a depth setting.
I can not find this setting in terrain maybe I am having a big durp or maybe they renamed it.
But thanks for replying much appreciated
I don’t know what you mean by a “depth setting”. If you’re talking about the height, that’s in the terrain settings as I mentioned.

what I mean is I can not make trenchs beaches anything at all. You are supposed to be able to hold shift while using the raise and lower terrain tool to make these trenches so says all the videos out there and tutorials.
But in every single one of these they show a depth setting.
So they recommend setting it to 100 so you can dig 300ft below the flat terrain.
But in all these videos I watch the terrain tab used to be at the top. It was by component and windows and help.
Then you would click that and find depth in it and set your depth.
I just can not find that in this new style they have it.
I have also tried experimenting with tons of heights and all that and nothing is working
The one video recommends these settings
Terrain width 200
terrain height 400
terrain length 200
heightmap resolution 513
detail resolution 1024
detail resolution per 8
control texture resolution 512
base texture resolution 1024.
Then they said to goto the depth section set it to 8 bit then set the depth to 100
So I am stumped
So if you know of a way that I can actually make to make trenches please explain. With the current free version
Go to paint height and set the height there.
