I DON’T want to publish an assets anymore.
When i see their products has stolen by pirates.
we just want to create the thing that peoples need it.
and then i see the stuff like this. I’m tired.
i thought Unity should have a solution to solve the world classic problem
should have something like package key sync with unity user id
or anything that make a package available only who have purchased.
As much as it’s a shame that people pirate assets from people like yourself on the asset store. I don’t think it should be expected that Unity should have a solution to piracy. I imagine they have their own issues with people pirating their engine as it is. The best combat for piracy is changing peoples attitudes towards stealing off people that are trying to make an honest living.
People stealing assets, please don’t steal assets.
Why? Nobody else has. As long as something is on your computer, it can be duplicated without authorization, end of story.
Anything that makes things complicated like that is precisely the wrong thing to do, since it won’t have any effect at all except to annoy legitimate users. Also it can’t possibly work, since unitypackages are just a collection of standard files. Once someone has those files, the most complex ID scheme in the world won’t stop that person from simply zipping them up and distributing them. There are no technological solutions to the problem, only social ones.
Anyone who grabs a free copy of a file, rather than pay the creator for the file, was never going to pay anyway. Personally, I’d rather 50 people use my easy-to-use creations and only 10 pay, than to have 6 people pay and use my heavily-locked creations. The more your name is out there, the more people will notice you, the more willing people will be to pay.
The biggest Corporations on the Planet can’t stop it so I wouldn’t trouble yourself over it. Continue making the best assets you can make and let your Talent and the belief in people who are willing to pay for it drive your sales. These thieves are the major minority and proof of that is the incredible amount of money being made by people producing good assets, good games, good apps while at the same time not hindering the legitimate purchaser with a crap load of activation, registration, kidney donation etc rules before they can access what they have purchased.
The best way to deal with the mental deflation is to not think of piracy as a loss. Those people never would have paid to begin with so you haven’t really lost anything.
The biggest bug bare I have with piracy is when people that steal your games/assets/code then have the nerve to ask for technical support. If you can’t tell the difference between the real customers and pirates at a customer service level then it can start costing you money. But in that case you can always think of pirates as free beta testers… (Trying to keep things positive here).
