I drag sprites onto a game object, but no animation component is created.

On the Roguelike tutorial priject, i drag the idle sprites onto the player gameobject, and the animation and animationcontroller components are made. i rename the animation, and file the two components away. When i drag the chop frames to the gameobject, an animationcontroller is made, but no animation component appears anywhere.

Drag the sprite(s) into the scene as a new GameObject, not onto an existing one. Then, in the Animation window, there’s a button that lets you create an Animation componentn and new clip. After that, again in the Animation window, Add a new property: SpriteRenderer → Sprite.
