I have 64bit Unity 5, can I run 32bit without reinstalling?

Just got told by a lecturere that a 3rd party peice of software we will be using doesnt work with 64bit version of unity and that we will have to use 32bit.

I had a lot of dicciculties when I upgraded Unity 4 to unity 5 and had a painful experience manualling uninstalling all files and registry entires… Because Unity 4 could not be uninstalled after unity 5 installed as the uninstall entry was replaced. But My stuff was still opening in Unity 4. and other issues etc…

So now I’m concerned about installing unity 32bit.

If I install 32bit Unity 5 now will it basically loose track of 64bit or cause problems Like it did with Unity 4?

It sounds like you did something really wrong. I upgraded two very large projects to Unity 5 from 4. I never messed with registry entries, nor any project opened with Unity 4. I strongly believe you did not follow upgrade instructions.

No, there is no difference between 32 bit and 64 bit editors in terms of user interface and usage, but Unity 64 bit editor is able to use more resources freely.

There are a lot of documents out there having more than one Unity version installed. Maybe you should check them out.
