I have a problem with importing 3d object

the object have 13360 verts, but in stats in editor showing 263.3k verts, other geometry.Why is happenning.
I’m using 3dsmax 2015, unity 5

The model does not have smoothing groups applied to it in Max - so in Unity each face is being represented by 3 vertices.

On hard edges (edges that have different smoothing groups on either side) along the hard edge every face will have its own vertex - so two faces (one polygon) that has two smoothing groups or no smoothing groups will have 6 vertices instead of 4 vertices.

Apply 1 smoothing group to the entire model and in Unity the model will show the correct number of vertices.
