PLEASE I’m begging you, add support for blenders Quick-Smoke, it would make games THOUSANDS times better if it did
Can’t be done. Unless I’m confusing it with something else, Quick-Smoke is volumetrics. Unity doesn’t support those. Most modern engines don’t support those either.
Blender’s Quick Smoke operator is a volumetric fluid simulation. A highly realistic smoke system makes sense in a non-realtime application but it doesn’t make sense at all in a game so if Unity were to implement it you would either get a very limited equivalent that wouldn’t look anywhere as good or it wouldn’t be usable for most games.
Concerning whether it would make games far better the answer is obviously that it wouldn’t or developers would already be using high quality smoke systems. After all it’s not like we can’t make a high quality smoke system that has good performance. It’s just that most people don’t seem to care about that.
Maybe look into the Asset store for FluXY. It’s a realtime capable smoke/fluid simulation which achieves that performance by working in 2D. Camera tricks and interactivity with 3D objects then make it seem 3Dish though!
