From 10 min to 10 min I get a SMS with a code from 2 factor authentication. I can login on connect.unity and unity but this SMS keeps arriving without any login attempt from my side. I think I got 100 SMS so fa and it keeps going
Contact Unity support but above all. CHANGE YOUR PASSWORD. It has to be much more secure as obviously someone has your password.
I changed the password but still receive the sms. I turned off 2 factor auth. It was so annoying
Congratulations, you’re probably going to lose access to your account because you decided you wanted less security because 2fa was doing its job.
He did change his password, but yeah, probably best to keep it on and talk to support.
Changing your password and then disabling 2fa is a terrible idea, especially if you’re potentially dealing with a compromised local machine.
If you have a compromised local machine it’s GAME OVER (pun intended).
No password or 2fa will help you.
It depends. It could just be a keylogger but no further access. Either way, turning off 2fa is a fucking stupid move if you’re getting 2fa notifications.
I’ve reenabled the 2fa. Let s see if I get smss. If I lose the account is not a big deal since I don,t have paid purchases
On the other hand someone could pretend to be you and damage your reputation through it.
They could also use information from the account (real name, password, etc) to gain access to other accounts if proper security isn’t followed.
Anyone willing to bet that this is some automated login from Unity Hub or something similar?
Either way someone has your password, deliberate or otherwise. Don’t turn off 2fa.
I would ask Unity support as earlier suggested. Also, ask to check IPs, of incoming queries.
You know I had this happen to me a few years ago… someone kept sending me the same incoherent text. Turns out it was the cell carrier. They had some sort of bug in their system. Maybe contact your cell carrier too?
Yeah, were you getting the exact same text with the same code each time? Basically a replay of the same text? Or were you getting entirely different texts?
The way text messaging works is the carrier sends a text to your phone and waits for confirmation from your phone that it was received. Then the carrier removes the text from their outgoing messages. If you’ve ever received a text message while at the edge of a tower’s range, or in an otherwise spotty service area, you may have experienced getting the same text message multiple times before. That can happen because the carrier never got confirmation from your phone that the text was received the first time, so attempts to resend.
So if the code in the text message is identical, meaning you’re just getting the same text over and over, then it is probably on your carrier’s end not Unity. Just resending the same text over and over. It could be spotty coverage, it could be an issue with the carrier itself, etc. If it is different codes each time then the issue is either with Unity, or someone is actually trying to break into your account and the system is working as designed.
Completely forgotten that this is a thing. Despite the fact that I get every text message from my carrier five times over.
It wasn’t even a two factor SMS. It was something that I’m not sure the other person even sent. Nevertheless it was the same message, again and again.
