I upgraded to Unity 4 just now, due to the opening prompt. After I loaded my current project, the program is fine, but come to find, my Android Basic License is Gone! That is a Huge Problem! Could someone please help me?
Did you get the Unity4 Android license too? If so, just go to Activate New License and add it. Otherwise, you have to buy the upgrade.
I had previously owned the Android Basic License on Unity 3. By upgrading to 4, have I nullified my license?
No, you still have a V3 license, you can use it on V3. But to use V4 android you have to upgrade it too.
edit: You can have both V3 and V4 installed at the same time, if you put them in different folders.
When you upgrade to major milestones like Unity 4 is, you need to upgrade ALL of your licenses in order to get them to work.
edit: too late, jaimi was faster ![]()
Thank you guys! Thank Unity they left previous versions on the DL list!
EDIT: Sorry I didn’t edit the previous post. I wasn’t paying close enough attention.*
Okay, so I’ve got both Unity 4 and 3.57 Installed in separate folders. Unity 4 works fine, although Unity 3 attempts to load, then fails with;
“FATAL ERROR! type == kMetaAssetType pathName.find (“library/metadata”) != 0”
Unity 3’s Target: and Start in: Properties are correct on my short cut icon, so what’s happening?
Is it because I’m trying to load a project that was ported to Unity 4? So my project is lost forever now to Unity 4 and my License for Android is no use to 4. That really sucks.
Yes, once a project has been ported to Unity 4, it’s no longer compatible with Unity 3.
Sorry, but this is what backups are for.
Is there a place I might be able to upgrade my U3 License to 4? Or do I have to purchase a brand new license??
I’d also like to know how to operate U3 still. Whenever I attempt to load, it tries to load my U4 project and crashes.
Launch it with the option key down. When you have it running, go into preferences and check “show project wizard at startup”.
