I must not forget my roots… so that is why im back here to tell you what ive been up to. A couple years ago i got tired of modding existing games and editting them for fun. So, i searched and searched online for something that would be easy to use to make my own video game. That is when i found Unity.
I sent emails to unity to explain my needs or dreams. They responded to me and said i could do it even though i didnt know how to program or code. They said learn here and here and here. At the time, coding or programming was impossible for me. But i believe what they said and started to learn.
So, here i am a couple years later with 5 published unity games and my first XBOX 360 Indie game ! For a year i learned how to script or code using unity in java and in C# and then i moved into XBOX 360 game development which luckily uses C# !!! I have found that what i thought to be very difficult and next to impossible to make an XBOX 360 Indie game turned out to be “rough but okay” to make.
You see, XNA uses C# and is quite similar to unity i found. I still have a couple unity games in the making but are on hold for now. I haven’t been active on the forums here for awhile since i have been making my first xbox 360 indie game ! I’ve been working on this xbox game for a couple months and now it is ready for Halloween.
Please review it if you can so that it gets approved for Halloween.
the game is all about trying to control Batboy fly and collect 12 treats. Some of the treats are booby trapped tho ! I sure hope it makes it for halloween. It is near the halfway point meter now on the progress for approval !
Did you mean on this site or on my site ? I fixed the overlapping link on my site. I’ll try splitting it on this one also now.
edit** done the splitting… sorry, at the time i was making the first post i was in a hurry and didnt think it mattered to put all the spacing in it without any paragraphs>>paragraphs R in now
Thanks Code_Of_Honour ! Splittsing done ! The last time i checked a couple hours ago TrickyTreat is not in the marketplace but still is in review(near halfway on the progress meter of approval).
But if my guess is right, it will be on the marketplace eventually !
Thank you to everyone who reviewed it so far and who will review it . And most of all, Thank You the reader for reading this post/thread.
Also, I read about the Windows 8 marketplace coming in just about a week from now and it sounds good for all of us Unity devs. Looking forward to that and I’ll be more around here on this forum again if the marketplace is as good as it sounds with the Windows 8.
This is just AWESOME to know : since i posted this topic, there has been a wopping increase of more members joining the XNA Creator’s Club !!! A more than average increase since i watched the member count grow daily !
YAY ! This means there are going to be more game developers on the XBOX 360 console marketplace AND more awesome games in the near future !! Although my review status is still the same, this here news is the most awesome to know !!!
Thanks for reading this post and Thanks again if you did review my game or if you are going to review my XBOX Indie game !
average per day members joining was near 1-3 since i joined >> suddenly turns into 10-15 members per day joining since this post !!!
Man, let me understand.
Are you developing to Xbox 360 using Unity?
Because after few searches and community answers, I was noticed that to develop publish an Indie game using Unity to Xbox is quite impossible for us (ordinary developers).
I stated that only indie games developed on XNA can be published on Xbox Live. To achieve the same using Unity we need to have what Microsoft calls “A developer hardware kit”. Which with licenses and everything costs around $100k !!! So, in other words, they don’t support us (ordinary indie game developers using 3rd pary engine). In my understanding its also an effort of Microsoft to promote XNA developing.
#Edit
After reading again your bit confusing text I noticed that you are using XNA to Xbox games. But in any case, do you share the same understand regarding the Xbox game develop (XNA vs Unity)?
@ renanss Am i developing to xbox 360 using Unity ?
Answer: Right now no.
I’m using XNA that uses C# and it is very similar to using unity C# scripting.
As far as i know it is as you say with Unity to xbox 360 in that you need alot of money (near $100k) along with other stuff(dev kit box, etc…) which is next to impossible for us ordinary developers.
To sum this XBOX 360 game making idea up: if you want to develop a game to xbox 360, you can use XNA. It only costs near $106 Canadian or $99 USD for the XNA Creator’s Club membership for one year. You only need an xbox 360, computer and some software that Microsoft supplies. The software they supply is free and comes with many many examples and kits to help you make your xbox games.
The reason why i wanted to make an xbox 360 game is simple: for the money and also a personal goal. I have not made a cent with making games with Unity so im trying to get on the xbox 360 marketplace with my TrickyTreat indie game.
Also note that with Windows 8 coming in a couple days(Oct.26), us Unity devs can sell our Unity games on the marketplace if we have Windows 8. This is as far as i know about Windows 8 happening. It will be a life changer for sure for us Unity devs since we will have a chance at making money with the Unity games we make ! This is Awesome news also !
okay, so it’s Halloween and there was not enough reviewers yet for my XBOX 360 Indie game called TrickyTreat to get approved and on the marketplace yet…
