I need questions and answers that anybody who isn't stupid should know!

Hey guys, I’ve been working on a silly little trivia app that is meant to test “how stupid” you are. It is more or less a silly app that users might intentionally get questions wrong on, just to read the randomly selected “stupidity level” phrase, which will be selected based on how far you make it through a 30 question test.

I’ve spent some time working on getting the basics ready for a prototype and I think it could be an interesting app maybe, but I’m running out of ideas for what questions to ask, which the majority of people are going to know the answer to. Here is what it looks like so far (ugly) and some examples:

So I’m hoping I can milk you guys for some help :stuck_out_tongue:

I need suggestions for questions and answers that could be used in a trivia game like this, which are silly stupid easy, and anyone who got them wrong, would either be joking around, or seriously stupid

As the game progresses the difficulty of the questions is supposed to increase (not by much), so they can range from “if you get this wrong your a full blown idiot” to “if you get this wrong, your mildly stupid” and such.

Here is a couple examples:

Any suggestions? You don’t need to format your ideas, I just did that for readability. The only real rules are, that they are not “trick” questions, and something that even most young children could answer easily without thinking too hard. Obviously vulgar/offensive questions won’t be allowed on app stores so those won’t work! Feel free to assign a value of difficulty, from 1 (super easy) to 30 (slightly difficult)

I’ll give you a question from one of my old school’s Occupational Health and Safety tests:

You see a chair obstructing a hallway, how do you react?
a) Move the chair aside to allow safe passage.
b) Leave the chair and wait for someone else to deal with it.
c) Stare at the chair and try to move it with your mind.

Hmm interesting. I might be stupid - because I can’t tell what the obvious answer should be! Haha

I suppose not C :stuck_out_tongue:

EDIT: I guess I should add - I intend to not use any “trick questions” or anything that you would actually be smart if you knew it (like for instance, your not stupid if you don’t know pi to the 10th decimal place…)

I made an alternative to your question I think I will use @Blacklight - hopefully it will make it clear which are right and wrong answers:

You see a chair obstructing a hallway you must go through, how do you react?
a) Move the chair aside to allow safe passage.
b) Try and break the chair.
c) Stare at the chair and try to move it with your mind.
d) (I always try to use 4 answers) Sit down and think about it.

In this scenario I suppose A is the logical right answer :stuck_out_tongue:

I’ll give you one from the very moment I decided I no longer wanted to date a girl when she asked me this.

Where does leather come from?
a) Animals
b) Chemicals
c) Trees
d) Rocks
e) Find out where it comes from in your mid 20’s and start having a hysterical crying fit in the middle of a theme park while your date dies of embarrassment on the inside.

I’m going to accept this question - without e haha

As a chemical engineer these questions always throw me. The primary ingredient of leather is animal hide, implying A. However the hide must be tanned with chemicals, implying B. It was traditionally done using tannins, which was derived from tree bark, implying C. Preparation for hides is done using salt, which can be derived from rock, implying D.

And true story, I took my wife through a historical tannery on our honeymoon in my mid 20s. There was no hysterical crying though, we both found the process fascinating. So I guess E is the only one that’s sketchy.

It’s A. Maybe context was required. OH&S stuff is usually about behaving safely and keeping your work space safe. Usually those quizzes are just pick the safest/least batsh*t insane answer.

How about:
What to you put in a toaster?

  • Toast
  • Bread
  • Forks
  • Hands

Well, perhaps instead of chemicals and trees, alternative choices could be used that are less confusing. < @Kiwasi

Yes, that’s another good one @Blacklight

Nah, I’m just being contrary. It’s not unusual for engineers to be ‘the dumbest art person you’ll ever meet’.

I forgot to mention - there are 30 levels to reach the end, but can be infinite questions, they are chosen randomly depending on the level of difficulty. So there needs to be a whole bunch, not just 30 questions… so almost anything acceptable is going to make it in :stuck_out_tongue:

I figure this way, later I can easily add extra questions (and “levels of stupidity” phrases) easily if it gains any popularity, ya know.
