We are creating a VR title for both the Oculus and Steam platforms. We’d like to implement IAP. While both platforms do support their own purchasing and inventory management systems, they do not work together seamlessly.
What we’d like to achieve, is that the player can purchase and unlock a level, for example when playing on Steam with the HTC Vive. And then later play that same content on Oculus Quest/Rift (through the Oculus platform) without having to unlock and pay for this content again. This can be done, for example, by having players log in to our own custom service and then connecting purchases in this way. The same account can be used on any platform.
The Unity IAP does have support for various stores (Apple and Google etc) but there is no mention of Steam nor Oculus. Could this service be used on these platforms?
