I'd like to get into creating a game with Unity bud don't know where to start ...

Hi everyone, First of all I’d like to say that I’m only 14 years old right now so if anything I say sounds stupid or illogical please, don’t blame me ^^ (And by the way, I’m French so please consider it when seeing my bad English :3). So the reason I’m here is simple, I’d like to create a game I’ve had an idea about, I’m a really fast learner, I’ve played various vdeo-games and I can tell what style I love the most (I know that doesn’t really matters) I know some basics with blender, I’ve done some programing (small things like a Snake game or a Space shooter with “Scratch”), I’m motivated and always learning from my mistakes. It would be a big game and I’ve clearly understood that I couldn’t start it right now from nothing and even though it would take me some years completing it since I’m still at school, but anyway, I decided to begin studying how Unity worked and ended up being completely lost, the only real infos I managed to extract from all these were : Unity is a game engine in witch you can make your game evolve just like a scene in blender but with more options and scripting, you need a scripting language that are mainly C# and JavaScript (I’ll go for C# even though JavaScript is “said” to be simpler to learn because I’m really interested in programming and C# looked more polyvalent (and I also have some really simple basics)), and something to model your props, decor and everything although there is the asset store so you can skip that one (I wan’t because I already have some basics with blender (I could create some low-poly assets if you’d ask me to). Anyway, the real question is: “Where to I start?” with all those various aspects Unity has, I don’t know wich one to start with : Learning C# ? The use of Unity ? Some graphics skills ? - I understood I needed to start with really simple games and then scale them up to something bigger until I could go on my own to something concrete, but that doesn’t tell me where to start, books, online tutorials, messing around with the software ? … If you have some really good tutorials that you could advice me, I’d take them because I really don’t like to know where I’m going and I feel frustrated when things don’t moves on ^^'. If you read through that whole thing, you’re someone nice, but what would be even nicer would be an answer . Thanks !

Like with anything in life, you start small, if you want to do programming, start learning the basics of it (C# is perfectly fine to start with). The same goes for Unity, look up beginner tutorials on Youtube, there are plenty of individuals that have put up nice tutorials to get you started.

As you’re learning, start with a small game, don’t try to build something big that will take you a long time without any actual experience.

The Learn section is the best place to start!

Ok thank you, but is it better to start learning how Unity works or do I start with C# ? And is C# (or any script) needed that much to create a game ?

Ho thanks you all ^^

Making games is pretty hard, and the fact that you managed to find these forums but missed this:

Doesn’t bode very well. My advice would be, start with paying attention, focusing on details, and reading comprehension. If you can manage that, the rest will happen in time.

Honestly missing that is a lot more understandable than missing the Learn section at the top of the screen since unless you reached the forums via a Google search you would have seen it when you clicked “Community”. We may need to have a Welcome notice show up when you create a forum account to assist with people who want to get started.

Yes.

You’ll need to learn all of it at about the same time. So just jump into the learn section and get started.

First find a gf then open google and write unity tutorial in there.

Unity bud… We all need more of that. What time does Taco Bell close?
