If current iOS title is UB, but new version is iPad only

does anyone what happens on the store and to existing customers?

I have game released that is UB but for the new update I am doing for it I want from now on to only be for iPad… basically I want to drop the UB support.

Does anyone know if…

A. You can even do that via iTunes connect on an all ready released App.
B. If you can do it, what happens to the existing customers that own the UB version on NON iPad devices? Do they get a notification of the update?

When an app is updated and no longer supports older device, the old devices do not get offered the update. I presume it would be the same if you went from Universal to iPad only.

I can see it annoying your existing customers who are using devices other than an iPad. Is there a really good reason for doing it?
