Ignore Collision on Character Controler

Hello everyone I have a little problem. I have a wood plank in my game witch I grab with a drag rigidbody script. Problem is that the plank is quite long and its colliding with my controler and make some wierd things like throwing me into air or simply blocking me. My question is: is there any way to ignore my controller by the plank object when im holding it and moving around?

You can do this:

Physics.IgnoreCollision(objectOne,objectTwo);

or, I also use the following:

Physics.IgnoreLayerCollision(layerOne,Layer2,true);
`

The second layer version can be used to have a layer ignore all other objects placed into it. I use this for enemy collisions. the layers can be the same. So, you could put all of the objects that you want the player to ignore collisions with into the same layer as the player, or all enemies in one layer, and so on.
