What is the roadmap for cross compiling OSX and Linux from Windows using IL2CPP?
Right now:
- There’s no Linux IL2CPP support
- OSX IL2CPP builds can only be made from a Mac (not Windows)
Thanks,
Tom.

We had no plans for it right now. We might reevaluate when we port IL2CPP to Linux. I don’t think there is a way to cross compile to macOS from Windows, though (unless I missed something).
Hi,
I just wanted to ressurect this thread now that IL2CPP is supported for Linux builds, will there be a way to cross compile them from Windows?
Cheers,
Tom
Yes, we’re actually working on that. We’ll support building for Linux IL2CPP from both Windows and Linux editors.
That’s great news! Do you have a release ETA for that ability?
In which version it will be possible to build Linux IL2CPP on Windows?
Is Unity also going to support building Mac IL2CPP from the Windows editor?
We have no plans for it at this time.
It’s 1 year later and I was wondering if Unity had any plans to build Mac il2cpp from Linux editor?
No.
Is it now possible cross-compile linux from windows using il2cpp for unity 2020.2.1? I can find this Unity - Manual: Linux IL2CPP cross-compiler, but not for unity 2020.2, the version i need. In build settings i can see this alert: “building linux il2cpp player requires a linux sysroot package to be installed”. If i go to package manager and install com.unity.toolchain.win-x86_64-linux-x86_64, build settings change alert in “Currently selected scripting backend (IL2CPP) is not installed”
