I'm Just a Beginner With Some Questions

I have used the basic program “game maker” before. I’ve also coded some games on my graphing calculator. I was wondering how difficult it would be to create a game on here that is peer-to-peer multiplayer based. It would be an fps arena style game. A very simple game. It wouldn’t have sprint, or jetpack, or any abilities other than shoot, jump, crouch, melee. It would have a simple design, and simple graphics. Think Halo CE.

I am starting by learning this tutorial: http://unity3d.com/learn/tutorials/projects/roll-a-ball/introduction

My Questions:

  1. So, would this REALLY simple fps arena game be hard to make? I have some java experience (very limited).
  2. Should I do 2d or 3d tutorials? Or both? (link me a good tut!)
  3. Is the multiplayer difficult to get working? (online and lan)
  4. Is making a simple fps game like Halo CE difficult to do? REALLY simple fps game?
  5. Is it common to get a few people and become a group to make the game? (one for design, one for graphics/animation, one for ui, one for networking)
  6. What are some common mistakes that I should avoid?
  7. If I get stuck where do I ask for help?
  8. Is Unity the right program to use?
  9. Are there any questions I’m missing?

Thank you in advance for your help!
