I'm looking to add a display which is locked to the controller?

I am trying to find examples or tutorials of those displays you get in some games which popup when you press a controller button and they are locked to your controller.

I want to add an in-game menu which allows the player to quit to main menu, pause, purchase items with in-game currency, see their score / lives etc. I was going to do this as a fixed point on a wall, but realised it wouldn’t be a good idea to have the player need to return to the wall each time.

Thanks!

I found this which explains almost everything. Incredibly useful!

I would almost think it was your tutorial…

If you’re making a GUI, just make sure to use TextMeshPro and not the Text element as shown in the video. TextMeshPro was a paid asset, but (evidently Unity bought them out) and it’s now free. Once you have your UI created, you can just make it a child of the controller if you want it to track with the controller movement.

Many thanks, I will check that out.

Do you know how I can make it so the controller is displayed in the editor so I can position it correctly?

Haha it’s an official unity tutorial
