I am just beginning to look into Unity Development. I understand I need a Mac to publish content? I have no Mac experience and know nothing about them. I would rather not have to buy one at this time.
I can get my hands on an old iMac Indigo. Would that be sufficient to do what I need it to do for Unity?
Unfortunately that system is just very, very slow. It is highly unlikely of ever running a processor intensive program like Unity in workable conditions (you can see the minimum specs required for Unity here: http://unity3d.com/unity/download )
How much experience do you have with computers in general? If you are just starting at programming, Unity is a great choice, but you do need a fairly recent system to use it. Do you have any Windows based systems you could use? Unity has supported Windows since version 2.5.
I plan on developing on the Windows version of Unity.
I am very experienced with PCs, just not Macs at all; never used one before.
I was curious if the iMac would be suitable for the iPhone publishing portion of the Unity process as I do not want to buy a Mac just yet if I do not have to. (I can get the iMac for free.)
No way will that thing work.
It is a PowerPC processor and I seriously doubt it will run Leopard or even Snow Leopard. Even if it does, I wouldn’t do it, my head would hurt to bad, it would make my 8 year old cry and my cat loose all of its hair.
