Well, i managed to do image effects for Unity FREE. It is not as fast as in PRO, but it does the job. Mainly, the smaller the screen size, the faster it is. I get decent 30FPS with a crowded scene in a web build.
I would like to know if anyone would be interested in such a package for a price.
Here are some photos to look at, i only converted some of my image effects pack for demonstration and testing.
The sulaco model is available at 3dcafe.com, it has too many vertices and not suitable for games. It is here for demonstration only.
Original Scene
Emboss
Negative
ThermalVision (dont mind the mess, its because of the sulaco model)
The Image Effect provided by you for Unity Free looks nice, specifically for Radial Blur, Thermal Vision , Night Vision (But you already did it for free) , emboss , etc…, Can you any of these : motion blur, glow effect… But I’m already tempted to buy this kit, how much you’re thinking to sell it? And if you want a suggestion post this to asset store section, I think more people go there than here…
The nightvision i provided for free was done with renderwithshader. What im offering is something different and more elegant.
I think it will be the same price as the pro shaders i provided. Because you get the exact same source codes as the pro shaders. But considering that my sales are really low, im not tempted to spend more time on this.
If sales are low it could mean that the shaders aren’t what people are looking for. Specifically, those shaders you have done are pretty much the same as the ones on the nvidia cg developer website.
What would be interesting are what you can’t do right now, or ios shaders. Yup, really fast optimised shaders are the way forwards and worth paying big bucks for (IMHO).
Depth of field is impossible, sorry. We are not able to get a depth texture with Unity Free. And calculating depth by script is too expensive.
Bloom, i already added to the pack.
These all work on ios no problem there. Infact, the smaller the screen resolution, the better it is.
So, the above are the ones working with Unity Free now.
My testing computer is a Intel Core 2 Duo 2.80ghz with 3gb ram
With a 800x600 screen resolution i get 30FPS.
With a 640x480 screen resolution i get 45FPS.
