Let’s say I’ve updated an asset to the asset store, the item was reviewed and I need to alter the price or the description.
Do I need to upload the whole tens of millions of bytes, just for a dozen bytes of adjustments?

2Sadly, I found out it is so.
You need to wait one or two days, and upload everything again. Ridiculous, but true.
No, this is not the case. If you only update text, price, category, screenshots etc. you simply click on upload and will get the question if the content of the package has changed. Click no and you will only send your changes, and they are updated instantly
