Imported Animations/legacy issues

I’ve been trying to set up a pretty basic puzzle. What I have are stones that have 2 separate animations attached to them which I created within 3ds Max. I exported them as an FBX fith the 2011 FBX exporter.

Where I run into problems is when I import them into Unity. I get the animations split up, but then it tells me that the stone must be set to Legacy. When I go into the inspector, and change the rig to legacy. My mesh in the scene disappear. I am at a loss as to where to start or hot to fix it.

They do not have bones. I actually just figured out the problem. When I animated them in 3ds max there was a position key frame which kept making the object in unity zoom back to origin zero every time I hit play.
