Imported Maya animation creating emptys instead of moving model - help?

Hello, I created a model in Mudbox from the generic human shape it gives you. I then imported this model to Maya and animated and rigged it there. However, when the model and rig are imported to Unity following this video (

) it creates empty spaces for each part of my rig, and moves those without affecting the actual model. The animation is functioning but for some reason the imported pieces are not moving the model’s joints, just the empty spaces. Googling wouldn’t help, and this is my last resort. Thank you,
