I import an object, and later create a prefab using it’s mesh. Can I delete the original object without errors and problems for the prefab, or is it required to remain in the project untouched as a kind of reference for the prefabs created from it?
You can’t delete the FBX file, if that’s what you’re asking. You can see this by clicking in the little target icon to the right of the mesh asset picker on the prefab. It will highlight the mesh in your FBX file. If you deleted the FBX, then the mesh filter would have nothing to reference.
However, re-reading your question, I think maybe you’re asking if you can delete something from the Hierarchy without affecting a prefab in the Project. You can certainly do that. This screenshot helps illustrate that, too. A prefab is made of things from the Project pane, not the Hierarchy pane.
Don’t be a grammar nazi, it’s rude, childish, and says more about you than it does me. I happen to have dyslexia and am severely disabled and lucky to be able to write at all, how do you feel now?
I feel that you’re a liar. Your post was perfect aside from one word. If you’re not actually a liar, I feel you’re going to weigh down the forum and I won’t be helping you ever again because you don’t care about becoming a better person and instead like to spew arrogant nonsense.
