Importing 3D model with animation result in strange double import

I'm trying to import a fbx file containing some animations. The model when imported into unity end up with a really strange double import. Basically the 1st frame of the animation ended up being a separate mesh object. Does anyone know how to fix this? Here is a screenshot.

I can't remember the animating term for it, but it's whatever you're using to help animate (like an armature or something) and is being imported along with your actual mesh.

It's not an issue though - drag the model into the scene, delete the bits you don't want, and make a prefab out of it, and it'll not show in the prefab
