Importing a non-Standard Asset

I’m sure this has been asked a 100 times, but I’m not finding an answer to my question.

I have assets that I’ve downloaded from the Asset Store that I can see when I start a new project, but I’m not seeing them after I’ve opened another project that I’d like to add the asset to. I would have assumed that I could do it from the Assets|Import Package menu selection, but I only see the standard packages there. Is it under the Import New Asset menu selection? If so, please just give me the link on how to use this feature, because I’m seeing the assets that I’ve installed.

Please tell me when I can find my assets.

Steps to repeat:

  1. Download an asset from the asset store.
  2. Start a new project without any assets.
  3. Write a reply to this post.

Thanks

The way it meant to be used is that you open the asset store and click on the ion with the arrow down in the box.
There you can import all your asset store asset.
The Assets|Import Package menu is reserved for Standard assets , but you can add your own assets to it.
In your unity installation folder you will find a folder named “Standard Assets” drop asset files into that and restart unity and they will appear in the Assets|Import Package menu.
