Importing Camera

I am trying to import cameras from an external app but have had no success from either Maya or Cinema 4D.
The cameras just get converted to nulls.

Anyone know if this is possible?

thanks

Kevin

Thats a negative Houston. But if your cameras were animated, you can copy the location to a unity camera, then parent the unity camera to the null.

That’s too bad, but thanks for the reply.

Kevin

What do you mean by this? I understand the parent part, but I’m still getting problems with a camera that not only rotates, but translates as well.

Yes thats not so helpful is it. Its been a few years since I used Maya, and made that post  but…

first try parenting a cube on to your maya camera so theres some geometry for Unity to detect,

failing that, you should make a cube in Maya, parent a new camera to it, in the same location, them move and keyframe the cube, with its camera child. Then you should have an animated cube appear in Unity, with which you can parent a Unity camera on to.

I hope that makes sense. I’m pretty sure its something missing in the Autodesk fbx sdk, which is the pipeline into Unity- dont quote me on that though. My point is, it may not be a Unity problem.

Have fun
