Importing from lightwave - model in pieces

Hi. I am trying to import some light wave models to unity. I used file->export to fbx, and put it in Unity. As soon as I press play the model breaks into pieces then tries to do it's animation. If I disable animation it stays together.

I then went to plugins->export to fbx and the interface was different. I loaded that fbx and even in the scene view the model is already spread apart and broken up.

What am I doing wrong that the pieces of the lw scene aren't being exported in their correct positions?

Try re-parenting all the parts to where they are supposed to be. I had to do this with a few maya bits.
