So now it is possible to get your heart beat and use it interactively in your application. Here’s the link.
I see it being used in horror games maybe. Or in music/dance games that will reward you if you are synced with the beat. Or in action games that will spawn more enemies if you have too low heart rate.
What are your thoughts how it could be used in the future or what other input devices you would predict ?
Horror yes: as in, “Child please! You ain’t telling me my heart is beating over 100 times a minute eating Cheetos and getting some of that Sega action!”
Better yet would be if it is too labored then the game shuts down and tells you to head out to the local track.
Well, through meditation you could get your heart rate really low. I’ve hit about 36 bpm before. It’s surprisingly calming. What’s awesome is that’s when my brain goes nuts, and I can imagine anything or work out some tough problems.
ANYWAY. I’d like to see a use for this kinda thing. Buy a USB heart monitor or something, then try and import date from that into Unity in real time.
You don’t need any extra hardware to monitor your heartbeat with a smart phone/device. Just the camera. There have been apps that can do that for a while. (though I haven’t seen any games based on it)
