“it’s AAA-quality and you have the C++ source code so if you can’t work with it that’s your fault.” (repeat mantra now)
No… I just switch to Unity and get much more productive with real tools that work as advertised

Lol yup That pretty well sums it up
I wonder what gave you a bad taste in your mouth. Could it be an 8 year old FPS engine, full of bugs and obfuscated-c contest code, along with an art pipeline that is enough to give you a case of angina? I think we walked down the same path.
Unity is the best $1500 I ever spent. Promises fulfilled, not promises broken.
Thanks glad to be here.
Quietus, I like the Cthulhu animation !
Yep, I think I walked the same path as well. Amazing… I was converted at Austin GDC this year.
It’s an allready well known path here, congratulations and wellcome
It’s called spreading yourself too thin with limited resources and losing touch with your customer base while having an arrogance that the market isn’t changing = Bad Taste
Again this is another reason why I’m excited about Unity going to Win. I’m already converted but knowing there are tons of indie developers without access to a Mac that can now be saved from also getting a bad taste in their mouths.
cough
“UNITY - Don’t just be a creator… be a God.”
do you mean gamestudio? they had a obfustcated-c contest i think. but i don’t think the OP meant gamestudio since there is no c++ source code for it.
No, I think that Quietus was talking about TGE. TGE was the best $100 I had spent on a game engine until I found Unity and found out that I should have saved that $100 for Unity which actually works!!! Ha ha
Best quote ever.
Work smart, not hard.
While some companies have the resource and time to work smart and hard, other companies (such indies) must rely and use every tricks they knowns.
Also AAA-quality is not equal to obtain big-and-fatty-money-check, for example Peggle is not a AAA-game but earn a lot more that several big production around here.
