In game advertising -- can we just take charge?

hey folks. I know that a lot of us have been thinking a lot about in game advertising, and systems like mochiAds.

I’ve started working towards getting advertising into unity. I know it’s possible, because there’s a studio here in town that’s working on it and they’ve got stuff hooked up.

  1. I know you can stream content into unity.
  2. I know that many of us have a brain.

so what i’m interested in is two things:

  1. is there anything approaching a solution for this at the moment?

  2. what can we developers do to hack some existing system into unity? Right now, I’m just looking at banner ads between levels or something on menus. I’m curious about implementing something like google adsense, or even getting my head around the backends of some or the existing advertising systems and integrating them.

how hard can it be, right?

Get it working and I would be interested in implementing it on a development basis in my baseball stadiums. Notice the JumboTron and the signs.The Jumbo is fully functional in my game and the signs have rolling textures.

I’d imagine that at the very least, we could find a banner provider that doesn’t work like google adsense (so it’s not based on the content of your page)… and phone them up, cut a per-game deal, stash the banner on a blank page somewhere, and bring it in with a WWW call…
