Hi, I am currently conducting research on the effects of outsourcing on the job pool of game devolopers. If you could take a moment out of your day to awnser a simple question, it would me much appreciated.
bump. I still need some more answers to make this complete.
Uhm, Im still young so… Ill give you mine here, I have started Indie game development Purely because I have a passion for games
I never had a tech job, when my contract was up I decided to pick up Unity for fun and it turned into profit so now I’ve not bothered to apply for more jobs
I have never had a job but I am still a minor, so…
I love games, and I love programming. Unity allows me to program games. I have not released any, but I must say, every time I pretend I will, its extremely fun.
Nice poll, let us see what happens next!!..
Quit my job at S********a and started making games. Our first one is waiting for approval and we’ve got 2 more in the oven.
It’s something I’ve always wanted to do.
How do any of the four choices relate to your quest for outsourcing data and its effect on the job pool? You cannot possibly derive appropriate stats about outsourcing from the questions you have asked.
BTH
Thanks! I’m not exactly trying to find out ALL the factors that cause outsourcing in a single poll, but I do want to see how many new workers are entering the tech sector via Indie developing, and if any are here because of displacement due to outsourcing.
I agree with Bluster T Hogwash
For example you missed some profile like mine: still employed in the same sector.
And you can lost your job for many reasons other than outsourcing…
You made your poll based on many wrong assumption if this is the information you seek.
Same as what charliesamways said I am still young so I really do indie developing because it is fun and i have a passion for games.
Thank you for participating in the poll. I am about done with my paper, so if you would like to read it, just let me know.
Its at the bottom– the last question.
I completed an internship with Sortasoft just prior to graduating and started working full time with them shortly there after; working in the indie development scene is the only professional level job I’ve ever had.
